The Proposal
Following the June 2026 Rotary International Board meeting, where the in-principle decision was made to modify the 19 current districts to the planned 9 districts, District 9660 proposes to redistrict with District 9685 and District 9640 with the district boundary of Parramatta River and the Queensland border as of 1 July 2028.
Clubs have 30 days from receipt of the proposal to discuss and vote on the proposal. If a majority of clubs in a district reject the proposal, it does not move forward. Each districting proposal includes certification that the majority of clubs in the district(s) did not reject the proposal and signatures of the current and future elected governors.
Background
Information has been sent to your club President and Secretary regarding the proposal to redistrict Rotary in NSW. The G Train in the district 9660 and 9685 put together a proposal which would reduce the state to TWO districts divided by the Parramatta River - Rotary North and Rotary South. This would combine Rotary districts 9660 and 9685 and the 20 clubs in 9640 (north of 9660 to the Queensland border). This would make the new district much larger – 166 clubs and 3538 Rotarians @ 1 July 2026 membership. The redistricting will occur on 1 July 2028.
